About me

Hello and thanks for visiting my web-site. I am 49 years old, live in Dorset in the UK and bought my first camera 5 years ago but have only taken photography seriously within the last 3 years. I am often inspired by viewing other people's portfolios and have particularly taken to landscape photography. I am therefore concentrating on this genre for now but hope to venture into portraits and still life at some stage in the future.
I find that my enjoyment of photography stems from the complete package of getting my gear together, driving/walking to a planned location, taking time to look for opportunities on site whilst I have a coffee, shooting the images that I think will portray the subject at its best, then coming home, processing the RAW files (I always shoot in RAW) then posting completed exposures to share and finally setting the photograph to print at home ready for framing and occasionally hanging on the wall. Sometimes it's extremely difficult to drag myself out at unearthly hours but most often 'worth it'. Additionally, I have found the camaraderie around photography very encouraging and I have made many new friends who all have a similar interest and are often willing to help others to perfect their art. For this I sincerely thank all of those who have helped me during the past 3 years and to my partner Sally, who has a tireless understanding of all my photographic needs and time requirements.
I use a Canon camera and mostly 'L' lenses. I have variable lenses but I predominately shoot landscapes with a W/A Lens and I use my Canon 100mm Macro lens for macro work. For my macro work I often use extension tubes to boost the magnification to greater than 1:1
(1:1 being True Macro).
I hope you enjoy your time here and if you wish to comment or purchase a Print then please use the 'Contact Me' section or alternatively leave a comment in the 'Guestbook'. I have set up Paypal to enable purchasing of prints on-line.
Best Regards.
John
